Mordechai’s 47-year career in higher education included academic leadership roles at several major universities. For the past 12 years, until his retirement on July 31, 2015, he served as Rider University’s sixth President. During his tenure at Rider University he was instrumental in the development of several innovative programs, including more than 170 online courses and degree programs. Prior to assuming the Presidency of Rider University, Mordechai served as President of the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada from 1993-2003. Mordechai earned his B.A. in history from McGill University and his PhD in Chinese History and Chinese-American Relations from the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to serving on the Board of Starfall Education Foundation, he is a consultant to the Danaher-Lynch Foundation.
